The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) is a private, not-for-profit corporation established in 1952 to provide a uniform date of appointment to positions in graduate medical education (GME) in the United States.

NRMP CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) is seeking nominations for two resident physician positions on its Board of Directors. The Board meets twice each year, usually in May and October. Additional day-long meetings, as well as periodic telephone conference calls, may be required for Board committee work. Read a summary of the qualifications for the positions.

NRMP BOARD REVISES MATCH POLICIES

At its May 2009 Meeting, the NRMP Board of Directors revised the policies that govern participation in the Matching Program. For information about those revisions, as well as other policy highlights, click here.

NRMP TO IMPLEMENT MANAGED SCRAMBLE

The NRMP Board of Directors, meeting in Washington, DC on May 4, 2009, voted to proceed with implementation of a "managed" Scramble for the Main Residency Match. A joint NRMP-AAMC work group will continue to refine the plan, which will require programs to offer and applicants to accept unfilled positions through the NRMP R3 System during Match Week. A "managed" Scramble would be implemented no earlier than the 2011 Match, according to NRMP Executive Director Mona M. Signer. Questions about the process may be directed to Ms. Signer at msigner@aamc.org.

In other business, the Board increased fees for all matches opening after June 30, 2009. The applicant registration fee will increase from $40 to $50; the institution registration fee will increase from $100 to $175; and the program registration fee and the fee charged per applicant matched to the program will increase from $20 to $30.
