Specialties Matching Service Welcomes Pediatric Pulmonology and Pediatric Nephrology!

The Specialties Matching Service (SMS) is pleased to welcome Pediatric Pulmonology and Pediatric Nephrology fellowship programs to the NRMP for the 2010 appointment year. For each match's schedule of dates and other information, click Fellowship Matches at the top of this page and select Participating Fellowships from the left menu bar, or contact our Help Desk specialists toll-free at 1-866-617-5834. Pediatric Pulmonology applicants should contact the training director directly for application forms and other details regarding their fellowship programs. Neurological Surgery Joins the NRMP!

The NRMP is pleased to welcome Neurological Surgery programs to the 2009 Main Residency Match. The Society for Neurological Surgeons, which is sponsoring the programs' participation in the NRMP, also has announced that as of July 1, 2009 the PGY-1 year of training in Neurological Surgery will become a categorical component of the Neurosurgical residency. Applicants who wish to obtain positions in Neurological Surgery no longer will be required to seek separate training for the PGY-1 year.

Concurrent with their move to the NRMP, Neurological Surgery programs will begin using the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

Applicant registration for the 2009 Main Residency Match opens at 12:00 noon eastern time on Friday, August 15, 2008. To register for the 2009 Match, please click on the Register/Login button at the top of the screen.

New>Results of the 2008 NRMP Program Director Survey (PDF, 144 pages)

This report presents the results of selected items from the 2008 NRMP Program Director Survey. Data are reported for 19 specialties and include: (1) factors used for granting interviews and ranking applicants; (2) use of USMLE exam scores; and (3) the percentage of interview slots filled prior to the November 1 release date of the MSPE.

The NRMP believes program directors, school officials, and applicants will find these data useful as they prepare for and participate in the Main Residency Match.

NRMP Fees

The applicant registration fee is $40. Institutions pay a $100 registration fee, plus $20 per participating program and $20 per applicant matched to the program.
