NRMP GME Trend Analysis of First-Year Graduate Medical Education in the United States: 2002-2013

NRMP First-Year Graduate Medical Education in the United States 2002-2013 analyzes trends in the number of post-graduate year one (PGY-1) residency positions available in the United States and graduation and match rates among U.S. allopathic and osteopathic students/graduates. Analyses revealed that the number of available PGY-1 positions in the NRMP Main Residency Match® has grown by 28 percent since 2002 while the number of graduating U.S. allopathic seniors has increased by 16 percent.
