Public Program Directory for Applicants
Program responses needed!
On Thursday, May 30, the NRMP sent a survey link to Match-participating programs to request applicant recruitment information for the 2024-2025 Match cycle to support the development of public program directory.
Specifically, program staff are being asked to identify for the NRMP: 1) the application service they plan to use during applicant recruitment for the Match season; and 2) the application service they plan to use during the Match Week Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program® (SOAP®), if their program(s) are unfilled.
Programs are being asked to respond to the survey as quickly as possible so that information can be displayed to applicants in a program directory that will be available on the NRMP website beginning June 26. The survey will remain open until September 10 in advance of when the Registration, Ranking, and Results® (R3®) system opens on September 16 for the 2025 Main Residency Match.
The creation of the public program directory is part of a broader effort on the part of the NRMP to provide additional support and guidance to applicants in their considerations of their training options this year. Once available, the public program directory will display the application service requirements of Match-participating programs along with other key program information including location, links to the institution and program websites, NRMP program code, and program type.
Please Note: Additional updates or changes needed to program information for the 2025 Main Residency Match cycle will not be possible through the survey. The 2024 Main Residency Match will remain available to you in the R3 system to make any updates necessary and those changes will be carried over into the public program directory and the upcoming 2025 Main Residency Match. Please log in to the R3 system to make updates to program directory information or request changes to program leadership. Thank you in advance for your assistance in demonstrating our shared commitment to greater transparency and guidance for applicants. If you have questions, please contact the NRMP at support@nrmp.org.

2025 Fee Increase for Institutions and Programs
As a valued participant in the Match, the NRMP wanted to provide you with advance notice of important fee changes, effective July 1, 2025.
Fee Increase for Institutions and Programs
The NRMP Board of Directors has approved a fee increase for institutions and programs participating in Fellowship Matches opening after June 30, 2025, and institutions and programs participating in the 2026 Main Residency Match. This marks the first increase in institution and program fees since July 1, 2018.
The new fees will be as follows:
- Institution Registration Fee: $300 per Match, an increase of $50.
- Program Registration Fee: $100 per program track, an increase of $40.
- Per Applicant Matched to Program Fee: $75, an increase of $15.
If you have any questions about the fee increase, please contact Accounting at (202) 400-2238 or by email at accounting@nrmp.org.
Policy Corner: Important Reminder for Programs
With the 2024 Main Residency Match now concluded, applicants and programs have turned their attention toward efforts and activities needed to complete onboarding for training. But what if there are unexpected bumps in the road? Match policies provide guidance on what to do if a program’s status changes after Match Week (e.g., loss of accreditation/closure).
The NRMP Match Participation Agreement outlines the steps that a program must take in the event it closes and cannot provide training to matched applicants:
13.0 Program Closures and Reduction in Complement of Matched Applicants
Programs closing or reducing the complement of matched applicants on or before the 45th day of training must notify the NRMP in writing of the method it will employ to assist each matched applicant in securing another graduate medical education position.
Although not common, we want to be sure programs are aware of the obligation to inform the NRMP of a change in program status and create a plan to support matched applicants. By working together and communicating effectively, we can help displaced applicants pursue positions in another program to complete their training.
If you have any questions or concerns about this or any other policy, please email policy@nrmp.org. We are here to help ensure a successful transition into residency for all Match participants.

In addition to Charting Outcomes™: Demographic Characteristics of Applicants in the Specialties Matching Service® report, the NRMP has a variety of Charting Outcomes™: Interactive Data Tools for stakeholders.
Match News and Reminders
Reminder to Download 2024 Main Residency Match Reports
We want to remind Match participants to download reports for the 2024 Main Residency Match.
How to download your reports? If you have not already done so, please log in to the R3 system to download and print your reports in the “Reports” section under “Options”.
The NRMP encourages users to archive reports and store them in a location that can be accessed easily by others in the event a staff transition occurs. Requests for Match reports submitted after the new Match season begins on September 16 will incur a $200 fee per report.
Introduction to the Fellowship Match Webinar
The NRMP is hosting an Introduction to the Fellowship Match webinar on July 16, at 1 pm ET, for Fellowship Match program and institution staff.
Please join Russette Blake, Operations Supervisor, and Joy Gaabucayan, Director of Match Policy and Compliance, as they provide an overview of Match processes and policies. Learn about program staff roles and responsibilities, managing the program’s participation in the Match, ranking applicants, and policy information.
This is a biannual webinar. An email with additional details and a registration link has been sent to fellowship program and institution staff associated with a Fellowship Match that opens for registration in August through the end of the year. Another session will be provided this winter for programs associated with a Fellowship Match that opens for registration in 2025.
Welcoming New Specialties to the NRMP’s Specialties Matching Service
The NRMP is excited to welcome Hematopathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology to the Specialties Matching Service (SMS). The two new subspecialties join Forensic Pathology to form a multi-specialty Pathology Fellowship Match.
We are honored to be entrusted with the matching process for these new specialties, and we look forward to a successful matching process.
Institutional Officials should reach out to their programs to ensure they are participating in the new Match. A new specialty newsletter with additional details will be sent to Hematopathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology programs in advance of the Match opening in February 2025.
