If you are a student or graduate of a U.S. MD, DO, or Canadian medical school or a student/graduate of a Fifth Pathway program:
Your medical school has not yet determined or verified that you will be eligible to enter graduate medical education programs on July 1 in the year of the Main Residency Match®. Your medical school can begin verifying applicants when ranking opens and they have until the Rank Order List Deadline to verify you for participation in the Match and SOAP.
If you are an international medical school graduate:
After registration opens for the Main Residency Match, the NRMP contacts ECFMG once each week to verify whether the applicant has completed the medical science examination, clinical skills, and communication skills requirements for ECFMG certification. The ECFMG must verify this information by the Rank Order List Deadline for you to participate in the Main Residency Match and SOAP. Once ECFMG verifies this information with the NRMP, your status will change to VERIFIED. Please review the current requirements for ECFMG certification at www.ecfmg.org.
