NRMP Publishes On Congressional Inquiry of the Matching Program Antitrust Exemption
The National Resident Matching Program® (NRMP®) is pleased to announce the publication of a new article in the Journal of Graduate Medical Education (JGME).
In Politicization of Graduate Medical Education Antitrust Exemption Obscures Real Workforce Issues and Solutions, Dr. Laurie Curtin, NRMP ‘s Chief Operating Officer, and Dr. Samuel Dotson, Residency Program Director of Department of Psychiatry at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, examine recent congressional inquiry of the antitrust exemption afforded to matching programs. They posit that The Match offers unique, meaningful benefits to the medical education community and that appealing the antitrust exemption will not improve concerns raised by Congress but rather could negatively impact patient access to care. The article offers suggestions and actionable steps for how the quantity, quality, and efficiency of graduate medical education (GME) can be improved.
