As the largest resident matching organization in the world, the National Resident Matching Program leverages its reporting to educate and inform those within and beyond the medical community about constituent experiences during the transition, improve equity in medicine, and reduce bias in resident selection. By leading out on new community-based initiatives and conversations, the NRMP also engages with stakeholders to build consensus around initiatives that seek to:

  • reduce stressors related to the transition to residency;
  • ensure the rights of applicants to an equitable matching process; and
  • increase understanding of outcomes related to resident selection, recruitment, and training processes.
