I am green card holder/U.S. permanent resident who graduated from an international medical school. What user type will I be in the Match?
If you still have questions, our team is available to assist you. Contact us for additional support.
Green card holders/U.S. permanent residents are not considered U.S. citizens so you would be considered a Non-U.S. Citizen Student/Graduate of an International Medical School (Non-U.S. IMG) when registering for the Match with the NRMP.
During NRMP registration, applicants will be asked a series of demographic questions to assist with research advancing the NRMP’s mission to provide meaningful and transparent data on Match outcomes and workforce trends. Applicants’ citizenship status is not shared with training programs. Programs receive your citizenship and visa status through the residency or fellowship application.
