Charting Outcomes in the Match reports are Now Available
The NRMP has published the 2022 Charting Outcomes in the Match reports to assist Match applicants as they determine their fit for specialties.
These biennial reports highlight applicant characteristics that contribute to a program’s overall assessment of an applicant and provide analysis of the relationship between applicant characteristics and matching to a preferred specialty. Ten to twelve measures are examined in the reports, depending on the applicant type, and include the number of contiguous ranks in preferred specialty, the number of distinct specialties ranked, USMLE® Step 1 and Step 2 CK scores (for U.S. MD seniors and IMGs), COMLEX-USA® Level 1 and Level 2-CE scores (for U.S. DO seniors), and the numbers of research experiences, publications, and work and volunteer experiences.

The NRMP also provides interactive versions of Charting Outcomes in the Match based on USMLE and COMLEX Step 1/Level 1 score data. The interactive versions use the 2022 data to provide Match applicants the ability to customize report output based on specialty of interest, Match year(s), and the applicant’s personal characteristics. The interactive versions of Charting Outcomes in the Match rely on the data visualization software Tableau and draw from the same data sources as the NRMP’s Charting Outcomes in the Match reports.
