View All NewsThe National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) has posted the Match Participation Agreements (“Agreements”) for the 2025 Main Residency Match. Although participants in an NRMP Match are responsible for reading the entire Agreement, we wish to highlight some new and updated policies to support Match participants as they prepare for the upcoming transition cycle.
View slides that outline the specific revisions in the Match Participation Agreements.
Match Participation Agreements for All Participants (Applicants, Programs, Institutions, Medical Schools)
- New! Reporting of Violations: The NRMP has added a new sub-section encouraging Match participants to report an alleged violation of Match Policy within one year of learning about the suspected incident. New language also mandates that the alleged violation must have occurred no later than the 45th day of training after the start date of the appointment contract if the violation involves a matched applicant. (Section 12.2)
- Dispute Resolution: The NRMP has modified language to clarify the requirements for pursuit of dispute resolution (arbitration) for any party identified as a state entity. (Section 19.0)
- Limitation on Action: The NRMP has modified language to clarify the requirements for written notification of pursuit of dispute resolution (arbitration) for any party identified as a state entity. (Section 20.0)
Institutions
- Match Fees: The NRMP has removed language that levies a late penalty fee against institutions with invoices outstanding at sixty (60) days from the invoice date. Institutions still will be barred from registering any programs for any of the NRMP’s Matches if invoices remain outstanding at ninety (90) days from the invoice date. (Section 5.2)
Codes of Conduct
As part of its policies, the NRMP also maintains and makes available Match Codes of Conduct for Applicants, Programs, and Medical Schools to foster ethical behavior during the application and matching processes.
